None of them have worked that way before. They should all be the same. High chance of getting one of the existing birthday minis, small chance of getting one of some other minis no one seems to have a confirmed yet.

Do we have to be in specific places to get them? I've been mining for drops but haven't seen hide nor hair of the actual "birthday gifts".

lol. this is either an amazing troll post or it's not and you are being honest in which case i will explain: You get Birthday presents when the character you created turns 1 year old from it's creation day. You get subsequent presents on following birthdays. Every year has a different selection of minis to choose from.

Thanks. I was serious. I thought they were for the "Guild Wars" birthday, not specific character birthdays. But now I know!

They drop during the infamous Iboga Farm.

Are we all going to have so many 7th birthday presents, that we need to stack them?!
The mind boggles.

Perhaps they're going to rain from the sky in some kind of 7th birthday finale event.
The former birthday presents have predefined content, and I personally think it's partly bound to the date of the characters birthday.
I do know this because some wiki friends and I tested stuff from time to time when we had the opportunity, in this case it involved an instance-reset.

My personal conclusion was that stackable items are really identical for the game, so the content of most of these presents is not determined until you open it. Thus there is a reason why birthday series 1 to 5 (and 6?) do not stack.

Now I'd guess that they either intentionally used different coding for this year's presents, or (and I think this one is more likely) they simply could not use the regular birthday present template, since this birthday present can contain at least 30 different things, not 14. Consequently, they probably used the more general code for presents and had more important things to spend their time to than adapting the "predefined content and thus non-stacking"-part, so that the 7th series is more alike to "Coffers of Whispers" or "Gifts of the Huntsman" than to the former birthday presents.

How dare Anet make allow all the rarer minis drop from this year's birthday presents. They are uncommon and rare for a reason. This shows an absolute disrespect for the high end traders whose income depends on the rarity and price of these minis. They have done nothing but dumb down this game over the past 7 years since day 1 and catered to the lazy player time after time. I have had it with GW - epic fail here and I certainly won't be supporting GW2 - I hope it fails so epically that it'll go down in the history books as the poster boy for fails.

Hanok

oh yea, /sarcasm by the way. Thanks Anet, finally a chance to perhaps complete the mini collection. Well played.

Yeah I'm curious to know if anyone has gotten any mini pets not listed on the wiki 7th year presents.

Maybe the reason why we aren't seeing any of these other minis is because everyone is holding onto their presents and not opening them? Only way we'll ever find out is if as many people open it as possible.

oh theory time!
well, one reason may be that a lot of the 7th year-ers are not playing gw this weekend and wont log in to find out their gift until late sunday night
perhaps after reading what minis they could get from the wikis--only the previous years ones are listed--they have decided not to open them and just put them in storage
and for the conspiracy seekers--the other minis are a lie! (cake anyone?)

I would wait until monday and then start wondering what they are since people are obviously not either checking or just dont care about them right now.

If someone already got a super-rare mini from a 7th birthday present... then they wouldn't say anything if they were smart. They'd sell it as fast as possible at current prices, before everyone realises that they're about to become a whole lot more common, and the price is about to crash.

My brother and I commented in the same thing; if either of us got a Kanaxai, or panda, MKG, etc, we'd sell that as fast as humans possible before it became known that they could come from year 7 presents. Pretty much anyone who's been around this long to have these presents, who still plays the game that is, is probably start enough to do the same.

it could be a possibility that when the beta is over they might notice an error in the presents so by monday when the beta is over and the current gw administration not so busy dealing with server issues and such they might notice something or john stumme honestly didnt know...?

...or it could just have been hype to make people want to open the gifts saying something else might be inside.....

I am more inclined to believe people havent opened them or just havent logged in to check after seeing the wiki say only old stuff in the gifts.

I got a mini Mad King Thorn (3rd year green) from my only 7th year birthday present so far.

Won't get another 7th birthday present for another 4 months... and by then I might be playing GW2, and not caring about GW1 stuff any more.
